    Max Temperature?

    What is the peak temperature that you should shoot for when making these cells?
    Give a man a match, and he’ll be warm for a minute, but set him on fire, and he’ll be warm for the rest of his life.

    Here is an idea. Design the operating temperature of your electrolyzer.

    To do this follow these steps.
    1. Find out the temperature ratings of all parts(and glues) that will be in your electrolyzer.
    2. Use the lowest of these ratings and subtract a small safe guard value from it. I.e. The plastic melts at 150F and it is the lowest rating. Take 150F and subtract 10% as a safe guard.

    150 - 150*0.10 = 150 - 15 = 135F this is only an example

    3. Add just enough neutral plates to get a stable temperature just below the 135F.
    4. Use distilled water and slowly add potassium hydroxide(KOH) until you reach the target temperature 135F.

    Temperature test

    Hello,
    I am in the process of building my first HHO unit, based on the Smack Booster design.
    I am using 4" PVC Pipe, and end caps that I got from Lowes.
    I was curious how the pipe would hold up to heat so I ran a boiling water test...not too scientific... Filled the unit with water from the stove just as it was boiling. I used a kitchen themometer and stuck it into the water. It held at 175 deg for 30 minutes and there was no deformation of the casing or end caps.

    Going to continue with buillding this with the following plate config...
    + NN NN NN - and see how it does.

    If you are going to use this electrolyzer with 12V, then you should reduce the number of N plates. I recommend either

    + NN -

    or

    + NNN -

    I'll try that when I finally get all the parts togather.
    I was following "PLUMBOB's" plate configuration...sort of.
    Hopeing to finish it and try it in the next week or so. No real hurry.
    The caseing is done and configuring the plates now.
