hi ...i'm new so some of these questions might be a bit dumb.....apologies.
why do we always put extra plates inbetween the pos and neg ones? why not conect the lot up?

No apologies necessary but I suggest you do a little research by using the search feature of this forum. You will find this question answered a number of times. Actually you have two questions. One is why the use of bipolar plates (N plates) and why not connect them all up as unipolar plates. Both questions have been answered and you can do it either way. If after doing a little research you still have some questions then come back and ask away. There is a world of information here at your finger tips.
