What is good frequency to shoot for?

Hey guys,
I have made a pwm that also does frequency....my question is what is a good frequency to go with? I know it various but if i get a good ballpark i know where to start.

If you don't have any other advanced functionality of the PWM(just s simple square wave output), the lowest frequency is best.

However, if you have the ability to add an inductor in there with a diode, then we can talk...
