So, this is my first post and am VERY new to the HHO thing. I have a 2000 f250 4x4 with 5.4L engine. It hangs right in there at about 10-11 mpg and is my daily driver. That said, I've been toying with the idea of installing an HHO system on it. I'm looking for some advice as to if it is conceivable to think that I could break into the midteens on mileage and also what sort of system to start out with. Also, will this mess with my OBDII and turn on my "check engine" light? Thanks for any help in advance.

From what I understand Fords are/can be a bit tricky. Tuning is key. Your Ford MAF may require some extra EFIEs consideration. O2 EFIEs should not be a problem.

Do some research you may find good Ford EFIE info here http://www.fuelsaver-mpg.com/

The HHO part is easy

II forgot about another EFIE handling option. Research VOLO FS-2 and your truck. it seems to helping 75% of vehicles.

So, in reading about this VOLO FS-2, is this all that I should need as far as EFIE goes??

The FS2 will work well with HHO. I'm also running a dual EFIE for my O2 sonsors and a MAF enhancer. I'm considering building a dual EFIE for the 2 post-cat O2 sensors to supply balanced voltage. When running the MAF enhancer, I'll occasionally get the P0171 and P0174 readings which the ECU should be recieving from the secondary cats.

Thanks for the fast response Helz. Good info. One thing I am still unsure about. With the FS2 would one still need a EFIE in addition to the FS2 or is that the one and only gizmo needed in place of a EFIE? I was looking at a
Quad Digital EFIE Basic for my 97 F150 w/ a 5.4l. Thanks

The more research I do the more it seems as if the FS2 gizmo does it all in one little box. Must be some freaky nun juice in there or something. It's magic. I don't care how it works as long as it does not fry my motor. Hell, if i don't have to use a scope to tweak it, i say it's worth it.

agreed.

So, HHO, what does your setup comprise of? Where did you get it? You and I have fairly similar vehicles, so I'm curious as to what exactly your running and of any difference(s) you may have noticed since installation. I have a '97 F150 with a 4.6l as well that I've been thinking about using for my "test mule" but in the end it's for my '00 F250 with 5.4l.
