its basicly a minature steam engine. you prime the tube with water the first time you use it so when the candle is lit the water in the loop turns to steam. as the steam is forced out of the tube it draws water back in. the tubes are bent in oppisite directions to make it spin.

It's a trick! When he cut to the closeup of the candle, he changed out the candles for hollowed out candles, then wired the nails inside the hollow part to a battery below the table.

Watch his hands when the candles are being lit and blown out. His other hand goes under the table to connect to battery terminals.
