When I buy new tires, I replace them with the next size larger.

I increase my replacement tire diameters by 4-5% over the factory supplied size.

(The larger tires correct the speedometer/odometer calibration that
are purposely made to read 3-4% high)

Using larger diameter tires is an automatic and absolutely free way to
increase MPG.

Larger tires wear slower and save you money.

Just ask for a plus 1 tire size when you re-tire.

My problem is when I bought new tires, not only did I go up a size, but I also put on knobbies. So much for any mpg gains. :rolleyes:

10. Use larger than standard tires. I usually drive on one-size bigger tires. This is better in winter and normally yields better mileage all year around. Yokohama tires give great traction in winter. My Neon had bad traction until I bought these tires plus they are nice and quiet. A slightly higher tire pressure to 40 PSI will also help mileage.
