Hello,

I have a problem with dry cell HHO.
After about 5 hours of doing the electrolyze process in distilled water,
The water become dirty with brown color (like rust).

I have been told to put some sodium instead of baking soda in the water.
The AMP is very good now, but the water still gets dirty.

I use stainless 316 plates in my dry cell.

Please tell me, how can I prevent the water from getting dirty and stay clean?

There are two main causes of the brown stuff:

1 - when plates are new, they may leach out ferrites into the solution, this will be like little dark grains of sand.

2 - Too much heat in your cell caused by too high a plate voltage. KOH and NaOH will both turn brown from this.

Do not put any sodium in your cell on its own!

Russ.

Electrolysis of salt produces chlorine gas.
Baking soda is not a good electrolyte. You can get sodium chloride ( make sure it's just sodium chloride) in the form of drain cleaner. The two brands I use are Roebic and Instant Power. Instant Power is 78% NaOH, 2% KOH and 20% water. Stick with one of those unless a better electrolyte is discovered.
