Installing the thermocouple for an EGT

I'm going to be installing my EGT gauge this weekend and was wondering where the best position is for the thermocouple. Should I mount this on the exhaust manifold as close as I can get to one of the cylinder exhaust exit ports or is there a more desirable location? I'm guessing as close to one of the cylinder exhausts as I can get but would rather get an experienced answer.

I would go as close to the cylinder as possible. You are trying to make sure that the cylinder temp is not to high, so as close as you can get.
