The plate design consists of -nn+nn-

There are 10 cells that measure 3" x 6".

It pulls 67 amps when operating temp is 120.



The problem that I'm having is that it is getting way to hot. Over 175

So what do I do? Add less sodium hydroxide?

Dilute with disstiled water or add a pwm to control it.

Good lord, you got this running in a tank or something? Sounds and looks like a interesting setup, what kind of LPM are you producing? 120 degrees isnt terribly hot for an HHO unit, I would assume that is more of an optimum operating temperature. Does the unit run away or top out at 120?

67amps is way to high. Try starting with only distilled water. Add your sodium hydroxide with using only grams at a time to see how each gram effects the amperage.

The temp goes up and up I have seen it at 200.


Its is in a abs built box that holds 6.5 gallons, It produces 15 lpm and is currently installed in a peterbuilt with the C 15 acerd <---- spelling might not be right.

I have diluted the mix it now has 1/8 of a teaspoon per gallon.

The truck is off for its first milage test and is traveling from Utah to new york.

That is what is was pulling with 1/3 of a teaspoon per gallon.

It now has 1/8 per gallon, and was only pulling 12 with the rig running, but that was also cold with new water. I will know more tomorrow.

67 amps really isnt that much when you consider that there are 10 cells, alone one of them will pull 10-12 amps.

looks like they are all run in parallel, they probably need more neutrals. 4 min I would think.

you could series your cells. I believe that is your best option at this point in your design.
series 2 or 3 at a time.

update:

The cell has been running for 12 hours and is only at 143 degrees and is performing well

There is 1 ml of sodium hydroxide per gallon, of just over 1/8 of a teaspoon per gallon.

The rig that this cell is installed on got a 21% increase in fuel mileage.

Yes, +nnnn- seems to generate the most for a given current without generating excessive heat. I am using that plate arrangement in my toy truck (Ford ranger 2.3 liter). I am getting 28 mpg.
