Just got my amp meter and shunt (electronics mentors, help!)

im sorry if im in the wrong section but i dunno were else to post it

ok so i got both item, i hook the amp meter to the shunt but no cable to the shunt i power it on to see that it was working, and im getting an oscillation between 00.1 and 00.2, is this normal?

Just cut either the positive or negative lead to your cell either will work. Put the shunt in line. One side of the shunt hooks to one side of the meter the other side of the shunt hooks to the other side meter. If you do not get a reading reverse the leads. The shunt has a known voltage drop and the meter reads the voltage drop and calculates the amp draw.
