When aluminum is exposed to
a caustic solution, the oxidation is repeditively removed and re added.
in this process Hydrogen is produced, however the aluminum, and KOH is
used up in the reaction. This is a purely chemical reaction, no
electricity involved, however large quantities of KOH and aluminum are
required, especially the KOH it seems to be used up quite rapidly. I
have built a very small scale model using the flat top and pull tab of
a mountain dew can and a mason jar with about a cup of KOH and H2O.

I have pictures that I will post later on this afternoon. As for now I have to go to school. What do you guys think.

Its a uncontrollable reaction unless you physically separate liquid from aluminum. It does produce alot of h2.

I have to agree but it was fun to watch

Ok the more I watch this reaction the potential I think it has. I am going to try and build a prototype and put in a truck. The thing is I have run out of vehicles to experiment on. My buddy is using his f-150 for his senior project and I am running current experiments on mine. I only drive a little bit and I like to have 3 tanks run on my all experiments so it takes me about 3 weeks to move on to the next idea.

I will post my plans.

I also really need help building my EFIE. I cant find the potentiometers!! anyone want to sell me one?
