Try this plate setup :

B- N N__N N__N N__N B+

Don't switch polarity in this setup. The extra N plate on the B- side really helps with heat.

It works really great for me.

Don't forget to wrap your cell. :)

Legend :

B- : Battery -
B+ : Battery +
N : Neutral Plate
N__N : 2 plates connected, with the biggest gap your housing can support.
