My KOH confusion

I've read that gas production increases with the concentration of potassium hydroxide up to 28% ( by weight). If that is true and current is not an issue than you should add 2.34 lbs. of koh to one gal. of distilled water which weighs 8.34 lbs. Is this correct? That is a lot of teaspoons. The article also stated that after the 28% concentration of koh gas production would decrease.

Easier in Metric.


In 1,000 ML (1 liter, and also 1,000 grams) there should be 280 grams of KOH.

Thus, weigh 280 gm pf KOH and add it to 720 gm/ml distilled water.


Not add 280 gm to 1,000 gm/ml water.

You would then have 1,280 gm of electrolyte.

Thank you. Lets make it difficult. How much to add to one gal? :) I don't think I have a scale to measure grams. Maybe I'll buy a hydrometer (because of your other thread) . See, I do try to pay attention.

Your production may increase, but so will current draw and heat.
